Mr Brent Connan
Born in Jersey, Mr Connan knew he wanted to play ‘those things that you hit’ since he was at primary school and began percussion lessons when he was 10 years old through the Jersey Music Service, taking part in every ensemble he could along the way and playing in bands with friends in his spare time. After finishing school, he completed his degree in Popular Music Performance at The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in London, before returning to Jersey to teach music. Mr Connan plays almost every weekend at weddings, festivals, fêtes and other parties around the island, drumming for numerous bands playing all sorts of music including pop, rock, funk, disco and even some New Orleans jazz!
As well as sharing his skills as one of our percussion tutors, Mr Connan has taught many guitarists in the Jersey Music Service over the years and introduced the Junior Guitar Ensemble and Senior Guitar Ensemble to join our existing ensemble offerings.
When he finds a moment where he is not teaching, rehearsing or playing, Brent likes to try his hand (and mouth) at learning the trumpet.
