We are delighted to be working in partnership with the Jersey Symphony Orchestra and departments of the Government of Jersey to facilitate a visit from the Antigua & Barbuda Youth Symphony Orchestra (ABYSO) as part of the Government of Jersey’s Hospitality Partnership with Antigua and Barbuda.

Musicians aged between 13 – 25 (on the 1st September 2023) of Grade 4+ standard are invited to attend a series of rehearsal sessions with the Jersey Symphony Orchestra leading up to the visit.  Musicians will then form a joint orchestra with ABYSO with rehearsals on Tuesday 17th October and Wednesday 18th October and perform as a combined orchestra on the evening of Wednesday 18th October at Les Quennevais School.  Musicians can sign up to be involved via the Jersey Symphony Orchestra by completing this form.

The Antigua and Barbuda Youth Symphony Orchestra was launched in 2018 under the distinguished patronage of His Excellency Sir Rodney Williams and Her Excellency Lady Williams in collaboration with the Kanneh-Mason family.  The Kanneh-Masons, whose paternal grandparents were born in Antigua, are seven award winning brothers and sisters all of whom play either violin, piano or cello.

The concert on Wednesday 18th October will involve members of the Kanneh-Mason family and will be attended by dignitaries from both Jersey and Antigua and Barbuda and will be followed by a reception in honour of the Government of Jersey’s partnership with the Islands.

The concert will include the following repertoire:

Coriolan Overture Op. 62 – Beethoven
Winter – Vivaldi
Slavonic Dance Op. 72 No.2 – Dvorak
Hall of the Mountain King – Grieg
