Junior Musician Competition and Young Musician Heats: 4 and 5 February 2023, Jersey College for Girls
Young Musician of the Year Final: 11 March 2023, Jersey Arts Centre
Jersey Music Service is excited to announce the 31st annual PwC Jersey Musician of the Year competitions. We welcome applications from musicians in piano, string, woodwind, brass, percussion, and vocal categories.
Who can enter?
Junior of the Year: for musicians residing in Jersey under the age of 13 years on 1 September 2022, with the exception of previous Junior Competition winners. Previous Junior winners may enter a different instrumental / vocal category.
Young Musician of the Year: with the exception of the previous year’s competition winner, all musicians residing in Jersey under the age of 19 years on 1 September 2022 and who have reached a comparable standard to Grade VI of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music / Trinity College are eligible to enter this competition. If a programme is not of the expected standard the adjudicator may choose not to adjudicate the competitor.
Entrants should have the support of their instrumental / vocal teacher.
Please note an important update to the rules this year – competitors must submit two copies of their music to JMS at the allocated rehearsal, and competitors are required to bring all original sheet music to the rehearsal and performance. Complete the entry form no later than Friday 9th December 2022. Please note that programme details will be required on the entry form. If you are unable to access the form, please do get in touch with our office by emailing [email protected].
Make payment of the £15.00 entry fee before Friday 9th December 2022 by calling the Jersey Music Service office on 832230, or by card in person, by appointment.
Please note that competitors must provide photocopies of all music to be performed for the adjudicators. Please bring these copies with you on the day of your allocated rehearsal (two copies please).
Please ensure that you bring your original sheet music with you to your rehearsal and leave the accompaniment with your accompanist for the competition.
