We would like to thank Johnny Begley’s fellow musicians and friends for sponsoring our brass competition for the last 40 years. Many of the brass players that have taken part in the competition continue to play, with some having gone on to pursue careers in music – we hope that all of the competitors will have fond memories of their time competing.
It was in 1993 that the Jersey Young Musician of the Year Competition commenced – each of the individual heat winners (at the time string, woodwind, brass, and piano) began to compete against each other for the title of Young Musician of the Year, known now as the PwC Jersey Young Musician of the Year Competition.
