Roll up, roll up for a musical spectacular not to be missed! Hundreds of young musicians will be raising the ‘big top’ at Fort Regent next month at the Jersey Music Service Gala Concert.

The evening extravaganza sponsored by Ogier will see over 200 children from 38 of the island’s schools performing in ‘A Night at The Musicals’ in the Gloucester Hall on Saturday 30th March.

The first half of the evening will be dedicated to individual pieces from the complete range of JMS ensembles including the Training Wind Band, Training String Orchestra, Intermediate Wind Band, Intermediate String Orchestra, the JMS Guitar Ensemble, Jersey Youth Orchestra and Jersey Youth Wind Band.

The second half will see young musicians, aged from seven to eighteen come together to perform a variety of pieces including arrangements from The Greatest Showman!

Commenting on the event, Dr Graham Cox, Principle of JMS said, “These fantastic young musicians have a number of large-scale performances under their belts now and the experience has helped in so many ways from developing teamwork and self-confidence to social skills.

“Our talented team of teachers have done an amazing job with the ensembles and this Gala is going to be exciting, we are grateful for the support of Ogier who have enabled us to make this concert special for the young people and their families.

Kate Kirk, director of marketing and communications at Ogier said, “We are delighted to support the Jersey Music Service Gala Concert. Not only is the gala a fantastic community event which showcases the musical talent of local young people, it is also a celebration of the role of music in children’s education. At Ogier we are passionate about opening up a variety of educational experiences to young people of all backgrounds, and JMS plays an important role in this through its schools’ programme. We hope everyone performing enjoys the evening – it promises to be a night to remember.”
